      I stumbled across an obit while in Leadville CO. I found your info on Ancestry.com and discovered that he was your guy. I don't know what paper it came from (I don't kow if it didn't say, or I didn't note it), but it was in a filing cabinet in the genealogy area of the library there. If you want a copy you can probably get it from them. I am not connected to the Makepeaces, but noted it since I am from Delaware Co IN and he was from Madison Co.

      Charles Mortimer Makepeace was born Aug. (illegible 13?) 1849 in Anderson Ind. Died Sept 6, 1908 being 50 years 1 month and 6 days old. He leaves a wife, four brother and three sisters to mourn his loss. They are located as follows: A. L. Makepeace, and Mrs. W. E. Bennett, Anderson Ind; H. B. Makepeace, Marion Ind; Mrs. E. W. Clifford, Chesterfield Ind; Mrs. W. H. Mayes, Los Angeles Cal; S. D. Makepeace, Wichita Kans. The latter being at the funeral.

      The deceased has been a band instructor most almost continuously since 1870. He taught for several years in Indiana, Indianapolis being his headquarters. In 1877 he located in Augusta Kans., where he was engaged in his profession until the year 1879 when he located in Leadville, Col. And following his profession for some time, afterward removing to Dodge City and Larnard Kans., where he taught bands and was a member of the famous Cow Boy Band. When Oklahoma opened for settlement in 1889, he settled in Kingfisher and has remained here until his death.

      June 9th 1900, Miss Hester Hobson of Kingfisher became his wife and they lived happily together until his death. He was a kind, affectionate husband and neighbor and much esteemed by his many friends.
