W.L. Irish shows place of birth as; Cayuga Co., NY. Information provided by descendant, Joyce Sickles, gives a place of birth as 'in the Bennington, Vt. area and probably in the town of Salem where his father resided at the time'. [Salem, Washington Co., NY is just over 30 miles North West of Bennington, VT.] It appears that Elijah had only one child, Edward, with his first wive, Lorraine Irish, but she died at age 21, two years after Edward's birth. He remarried to a Roxana Wheeler, a cousin, but it appears they had no children.
