    Obituary THE OTSEGO FARMER,JULY 14, 1922

Mrs. Sarah A. Irish passed to her long rest at the home of Miss Ida B. Bridger at Cherry Valley, at 1:20 p. m., Tuesday, July 4th, 1922. The deceased was born in the town of Springfield, April 21, 1838, and was a daughter of George and Charlotte (Ashton) Clark.
She received her education in the old Cherry Valley Academy and taught in the public schools for a number of years. In 1872 she was married to David Irish, who died in 1895. After her marriage she lived in the town of Middlefield, also at Westford and Laurens.
After the death of her husband her home was in the village of Middlefield until seven years ago when failing health compelled her to make her home with Miss Bridger, who has tenderly cared for her during her last illness.
She was a great sufferer for the past two years. Mrs. Irish was an earnest Christian showing always toward her friends and neighbors the Christian spirit, and a loving mother devoted to her home and children until her health failed. Many times during her last days she would say, "Shall I go home to night?" On being asked where home was, she replied, "Heaven;" The deceased was the youngest of a family of nine children, one of whom survives her, a sister, Mrs. Ann Baker of East San Diego, Cal. She is also survived by a step-son, William Irish of Cherry Valley; two sons, Bert C. Irish of Cooperstown, and Lewis C. Irish of Royal 0ak, Mich., and two granddaughters, Dorothea M. Irish of Cooperstown and Onalee Irish of Royal Oak, Mich.,
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Havens; pastor of the Methodist church of Cherry Valley. The prayer was offered by the Rev. Thomas Broxholm of Schenevus. Interment in the Cherry Valley cemetery where her parents and other members of her family are buried.
